POW WOW Hawai’i 2012

Pow Wow 2012 is once again being held in Hawai'i, bringing artist together from all over the world, including several from the Bay Area including two from San José.

Following up on an extremely successful showing in 2011, the multi-day POW WOW Hawai’i art event prepares for its third annual showing. Originally conceived in Hong Kong, the event moved to founder Jasper Wong’s native Hawaii to help enrich the local creative scene. The event encompasses a global roster of over 30 artists who will each create art at Loft in Space and over the streets of Kaka’ako over a six-day period between February 13 to 18.

The artists include 123KLAN, Angry Woebots, Aaron De La Cruz, Flying Fortress, Mr. Jago, Jeff Hamada, Nicole Naone, Samuel Rodriguez, Suitman, Prime and many more. Aside from the main event of artists hard at work, two secondary elements include an Arkitip Pop-Up Store and the Day Job? curated by Hypebeast’s Eugene Kan. The nearly week-long event culminates with a huge party on Saturday, February 18 as well as a “black out” session in which many of the pieces created for the event will be painted over to reinforce the importance of process in art.
