"Fight for Him, When He No Longer Can" -- Sister of Man Killed in Santa Clara County Jail Compels County to Act

Shannon Tyree, sister to the late Michael Tyree, who died while in the custody of the Santa Clara County Jail, submits a compelling letter from her home in New York to the Blue Ribbon Commission that is charged with making recommendations to improve jail conditions. The commission was formed after the death of Michael Tyree, in which three correctional officers were charged with murdering him. In her letter, she says Michael would be "stunned by how many people are now with him" and that "Santa Clara County has an opportunity to make change that can reverberate in jails across the nation."
